Key hosts like Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity, and Laura Ingraham have regularly spread misinformation about climate change, COVID-19, election integrity, and immigration. In 2023, Fox News agreed to a 87.5 million settlement with Dominion Voting Systems after being shown to have knowingly broadcast false claims about election fraud in the 2020 presidential election. Internal communications revealed that network executives and hosts privately doubted the fraud claims they were promoting on air. The network has been described as a state-sponsored propaganda operation by critics and has faced numerous defamation lawsuits.
